You remember exactly what the doctor said to you.
You were in the hospital after surgery.
You opened your eyes.

Your doctor had a sad face.
He was with two other doctors.
They also had sad faces.

It looked almost like someone died.
Instead, they had some bad news to tell you.
Your doctor told you there was a problem during surgery.

He was kind of vague in how the problem happened in surgery, but it required them to take out a number of your internal organs. That's going to leave you with some really big problems, one of the doctors tells you.

There were no apologies.
There were only sad statements.
Only comments about looking forward.

Months later, after physical therapy and rehabilitation, you're finally home.
