Medicine Bow Peak in Wyoming Day Hike

We arrived at the Medicine Bow Trail head around 7:30 AM on 8/22 and there were about 20 cars in the parking lot at that time. When you first enter the trail head, be sure to stop at the Trail signage to obtain a permit for parking. $5/day for day hiking or $10/day for camping. You can pay by cash at that time, or you can pay online. I have Sprint and did not have service at the trail head so if you wish to pay online, you may want to do that before you get there.

We made this a day trip from Denver. We left Denver around 4 AM and got there around 7:20 AM with only one stop along the way. Wyoming was very hazy due to the wild fires and did not really clear up much while we were hiking. The views were still phenomenal. At the trail head, there is a sign for Medicine Bow Peak that shows 5 miles round trip. We also saw this trail on AllTrails and it showed 3.2 miles round trip. We ended up clocking 4 miles and it took us 3 hours to complete. I think this is an phenomenal trail!! I will be back to hike again or camp.
