Hip Strengthening - Pilates Matwork Level 1/2 - 40min - Bodyweight exercises
The hip is a major weight-bearing joint in the body and is responsible for many functional activities such as walking, running, sitting, and standing. To help protect the hip joint from "wear and tear," it is essential to strengthening the muscles that support it. The Hip flexors, are the group of muscles responsible for flexion at the hip, are important stabilizing muscles for everyone, but especially for runners. Your hips also control the position of your knee, and strengthening your hips may be one component of your rehab program for knee pain.
Wake up your hips and legs with this great hip strengthening class. This intermediate Matwork Pilates series focuses on developing strength and stability in the pelvis, whilst additionally increasing flexibility and range in the hip socket.
The class starts with a standing squats series and added balance variation to challenge your legs. We will then take it to the Mat to focus on developing control and activation from the deep core, ending with a good hip stretch. You will feel light, lifted, and supported after this class.
