Rongowhakaata Taikura – Taikura Kapa Haka 2022
Here we’re in Manutuke at Whakatō Marae with our wonderful Rongowhakaata Taikura. Enjoy this very special performance and hear stories from our wonderful Rongowhakaata aunties!
Historically, Te Papa has hosted the annual Taikura Kapa Haka event as part of our Matariki celebrations, welcoming kaumātua (elders) groups from throughout Aotearoa.
For 2022, we’ve used the same approach as 2021 and captured each group as they perform kapa haka (Māori performing arts) within their own rohe (region), as well as interviews with members of that group about their experiences within Taikura Kapa Haka and what this means to them in 2022.
