Tina Charles - Madame, Madame (1970)

Prior to this upload, there were seven of the eight tracks from Tina's first four singles on YouTube. This song completes the group.

Madame, Madame is the B-side to Tina's 1970 single Bo-Bo's Party (an impressively full throttle cover of the Melanie Safka song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0dBo8TQSro )

While the A-side of her fourth single suggests an attempt to give the 16 year old Tina an edgier musical persona, the B-side seems a somewhat jarring juxtaposition. Madame, Madame feels more akin to a jaunty novelty song.

But wait... The singer addresses the 'high and mighty' Madame fruit seller. Is the young lady in the song, who happily lists the 'sweet and juicy' fruits displayed in the market, actually prepared to take away the fruit seller's 'nice man' husband? Apparently so! The young lady is convinced by his smiles that he likes her 'for sure'. Madame, be warned: "Soon you don't have him no more!"

My love and thanks to Tina and José.
