This model home is highly energy efficient. Thrive projects that its annual cost of energy (gas for heating, hot water and cooking and electric for everything else) will be under $300/year thanks in part to its solar PV installation on the roof. The garage has a 240V outlet for car charging, too. The home is promoted as "net zero ready" which would involve replacing the gas furnace with a heat pump, the gas water heater with a heat pump water heater, and the range with an induction cooktop. A main selling point is that it's a "healthy home" with a rating from the EPA's airPLUS Program. It also has radon mitigated. The furnace has a MERV filter on it and is designed to maintain a small air flow through that filter even when not in heating or cooling mode. The is well insulated and tight with approximately 0.2 air changes per hour.
