Making a Turkey Call - Woodturning

Watch old roofing slate and scrap wood become a functional turkey call. These are called pot or slate calls and are used in hunting to lure turkeys closer to the hunter.

The biggest difference I would make would be to use a hardening finish like polyurethane or Danish oil instead of mineral oil. Excess oil actually draws into the edges of the slate. The pot is walnut and the striker maple.
