Truck Camping & Tailgate Cooking | Revelstoke BC

Daniel and I rolled into our beautiful campsite just outside Revelstoke and lucked out by getting the last river site! This campsite was BEAUTIFUL! it was just a short walk from our site to the beach which featured stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The lake was calm with a ton of sandy beach. The best part, it was dog friendly! After playing at the beach with our dog Aspen we were pretty hungry. We decided to make some mashed potatoes and some local in season asparagus from the town of Creston. The next morning we started off our day by going on a little hike to Sutherland Falls. It was a super nice way to start off the day. After our little waterfall hike we drove to the town of Revelstoke to explore. Revelstoke is a gorgeous town with stunning mountain views. After exploring the town we decided to go on a little hike in the area to get a nice view of the surrounding area. This hike was beautiful! Normally it can get pretty wet and muddy so there was plenty of wood supports to help people navigate the mud. Lucky for us it was pretty dry that day. We got to the top and soaked in the view! WOW! what should have been an uneventful hike down turned into quite an adventure when the dam let water run through the the Columbia River. This wouldn't have been a problem except that the water level had risen so high the path we took to get up was now underwater. The only remaining path to finish the hike was not dog friendly. It took us a good 15 minutes of trying to figure out the best option here. After some debate we figured our best option was for Daniel to go town the bank and for my to attempt to lower Aspen (our dog) to him. Problem was the drop was a lot farther than we both expected and it was a difficult job. Aspen was terrified and fought as hard as she could to not go over the edge. It was not fun. Fortunately we got Aspen down and everybody was okay, minus a little scratch on Daniel's leg. If you're wondering, no Aspen wouldn't have swam. She doesn't like to swim and we all would have gotten soaked and covered in claw marks if we attempted getting her to swim across. It was a beautiful hike but we definitely wouldn't want to have to get Aspen down again. After our hike we decided to cook up some burgers. Then we spent the evening at the beach, enjoying the view. Thanks for watching!
