Wildflower tour of Sichuan Province, China: photo gallery I

Please visit us at: http://botanyboy.org/ From June 20-30th, 2013 I had the great fortune of attending a botanical tour of northern Sichuan Province, China. The tour, organized and lead by Holger and Wenqing Perner, took us through some of the most botanically rich regions of China. We traveled elevations ranging from just below 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) up to 4,500 meters (14,760 feet) spanning life zones that ranged from near subtropical to truly boreal. The plants seen were thus varied to the extreme - epiphytic orchids and ferns, true alpine wildflowers, coniferous boreal forests, wet temperate hardwood forests... you name it! The glory of the trip were the terrestrial wild orchids - untold thousands of smaller species in the genera Amitostigma, Ponerorchis, Oreorchis, and Galearis, and of course the royalty of the tour, Cypripedium species in full flower.
