The Double Empathy Problem
The double empathy problem regarding autism is an interesting perspective introduced in a 2012 paper by Milton. So, what is double empathy and why does it matter for autistic people?
In this video, I explore research and information regarding what the double empathy problem is and why it is important for understanding autistic and non-autistic communication and interaction.. I share some of my own personal examples and experiences as well as help to interpret more confusing academic language into understandable, yet still accurate and detailed, language for the average person looking to understand more. This video is embedded on my website here: https://www.stephaniebethany.com/blog/the-double-empathy-problem to help people who prefer a text format as well as in-text citations. However, this is my original work with the inclusion of properly cited research and sources.
