YOGA to Strengthen: LEGS | 20 Minutes | Intermediate | Strength, Power & Endurance With Yoga Flow
🇲🇪 Tivat, Montenegro
In this YOGA TO STRENGTHEN series, we will be working different muscle groups harder than usual to promote muscle strength, size, power and endurance. Each class is focussed on a different muscle group, with this one being for the LEG muscles. Of course, yoga is a full body experience so we can't help but get other areas involved, but the sequence here will mainly target the quads, hamstrings, and calf muscles.
After some stretching of those muscles, we then work on transitioning through two asanas (poses) in a DYNAMIC way - this helps loosen up the muscles by lengthening them and keeping them flexible, but also gets the blood flowing to really warm up the body. Taking the body through this range of motion really helps to enhance strength, power, and mobility.
We then move through the same asanas but stay in them for a short period - the STATIC holds help us build stability and endurance as we contract the muscles needed to keep us there.
Finally, we finish each class with a FLOW through the sequence. We repeat this a few times to push those muscles towards failure, encouraging them to then build back stronger.
This series blends yoga and HIIT/strength training in a (hopefully🤞) fun way so that we are building strength and stability in the body whilst also engaging the brain and focussing the mind as we flow through the class.
I suggest coming back to this class regularly so that it becomes more familiar for the body and mind, allowing you to find the flow more easily each time. And check out the other classes in this series - together they provide a full body experience that will stretch and strengthen your whole being!
