NC Career Exploration: Oral Historian
Historians use a variety of sources to learn about the past such as books, documents, and maps…but how else can you learn about the past? Listen to John Horan, Oral Historian at the State Archives of North Carolina, discuss how he interviews people to learn more about the past, present, and future of North Carolina.
The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources covers North Carolina from A to Z and has staff members that can be everything from accountants to zookeepers. Hear from some of these folks and learn about the many different jobs across the Department. The Career Exploration Program introduces unique professions in the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources while helping students consider:
- What they like to do
- Where their interests and skills connect
- How they identify themselves within diverse career paths
