MOMSR Ampex 200A loaned to the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum

In December 2019 we packed up our 1948 Ampex 200A #33 (of 212 built) and loaned it for display to the Austin, Texas Bullock Museum. Covid impacted its exposure in 2020, however we're leaving the recorder with the museum for an extended period of time.

In the future, when the 200A is back home, we'll continue its extensive restoration. Presently it has some original tube components that are in process of restoration. Plus it has two Inovonics amps that were installed by Leo De Gar Kulka of Golden State Recording.

Asleep At the Wheel created demos on this Ampex 200A according to Floyd Domino and Ray Benson. Floyd and Ray also have displays on the Bullock's third floor where the recorder sits. See more at this link. https://museumofmagneticsoundrecording.org/ManufacturersAmpex.html
