Dick Dodd Impersonator Arrested in Austin Sting November 14,1987 - Phantom Productions, Inc. Archive

Dick Dodd and the Standells were booked to perform on November 14, 1987 in Austin, Texas at the Big Mamou Club. While Dick Dodd was being interviewed at Austin's KLBJ radio station, a person with Guitar Magazine who was at the station knew Dick Dodd and was introduced to this alleged "Dick Dodd." The person knew this was not Dick Dodd and called the real Dick Dodd in California.

It was decided to have Dick Dodd come to Austin and have the Police Department arrest the impersonator on stage.

Phantom Productions, Inc. was managing Ron Rogers, whose band, "The White Slave Boys" was approached to back the real Dick Dodd for a performance following the arrest.

Phantom taped the sting and subsequent Dick Dodd performance with the While Slave Boys.

Also included are a news interview and a Dale Dudley interview.

Dick Dodd also returned to Austin for the imposter's trial.
