Army Telecommunications Specialist (MOS 72E/25D) - Dream Path After High School (JAN-18-2022)

During Senior Year of high school (at Coolidge High School, Coolidge, Arizona), I contemplated on either going to a military academy (Annapolis, Air Force Academy, West Point, Coast Guard Academy, or Merchant Marine Academy) or enlisting in the Army (if I couldn't get into an academy or obtain an ROTC scholarship for a regular university).

The main MOS that I was going for was Telecommunications Operator-Maintainer (72E/25D) with a possible incentive to subsequently go to Airborne (Parachute) School and Air Assault School.

You know what the problem was? This was before October 2007, and I was under a "Permanent Resident" status in the US and couldn't enlist as an American Citizen, let alone get a Top Secret Security (TS/SCI) Clearance!

Moreover, I took the pre-ASVAB test at US Army Recruiting Casa Grande. If I recall, I scored somewhere between 45 to 60. So, my MOS options were limited. I remember two MOS's that were just appalling to me - Mortuary Specialist (92M) and Unit Supply Specialist (92Y).

In the end, I ended up not going into the Army at all and enlisted in the Navy, instead.

I even tried to become an Information Systems Technician (IT) while in Navy Boot Camp at Recruit Training Command (RTC) Great Lakes, Illinois. But, to no avail - My mom was living in PI back then. So, I settled for Aviation Electrician's Mate (AE). I ended up loving being an AE and being in Naval Aviation, overall.

Guess everything happens for a reason, then!
