4K Cab Ride NL Lelystad – Almere – Amsterdam RAI – Rotterdam CS / IC 2441 / 24-02-2018

We take a tour from Lelystad via Almere, Amsterdam RAI (extra stop), Schiphol Aiport and Den Haag HS (The Hague HS) to Rotterdam Central Station. With some other stops in between as well.

At 9.54 we depart perfectly on time from our starting point. The weather is beautiful but very cold! This week temperatures dropped to -2 to -5 during the day but the wind made it feel much, much colder. On Thursday (1st of March) it felt like -17 Celsius early in the morning. Brrrrr!!... Anyhow! We accelerate to the maximum speed and halfway to Almere Buiten we let the weight of the train do the rest of the work. You know, to save lots of energy. Because we love earth.

On the way I made some special announcements for the women getting on the train. They all go to the ‘huishoudbeurs’. I think the best translation is ‘household market’ or something. Huge thing and it lasts for a week every year. Because lots of people are going there the intercity’s from Lelystad skip the stop at Duivendrecht and make an extra stop in Amsterdam RAI. In our old (2017) schedule it was possible to make stops at both stations, but in the current schedule that is not possible anymore because we have more trains running and they will make conflicts when we make stops on both stations.

After our departure from Amsterdam RAI (departed on time) you can see we’re on +1 on our arrival in Amsterdam Zuid. Can you imagine what would happen if we would’ve stopped in Duivendrecht as well? :) BTW: the lady 'running' toward the train didn't see on time the train was already there. And from the cabin they were sitting in the walk was too long. The train manager didn't see the lady on time. Also, we were behind on schedule. This sounds stupid, I know. But think of it. If we would've waited we would've had an extra minute delay conflicting other trains behind us in Schiphol. Only 15 minutes later there was a new IC-service ready for the ladies to Schiphol and further. :)

On the rest of the route you’ll see our airport station, Leiden Centraal (the beep on the radio is because we didn’t have a green light on our time of departure), Den Haag HS, Delft, Schiedam Centrum and the final stop is Rotterdam CS. Oh by the way... in Schiedam we make a call to the signal man telling him one of the signals between Delft Zuid and Schiedam is faulty (on the other track). Have you seen in on the route?
