‘Vanchit Vikas’ established in 1985 under public trust Act based on the experience gained from ‘Janeev Sangathana’ which was functional since in 1982. The founder of both the organizations was Late Hon. Vilas Chaphekar, a social reformer who thought that the unification of social reforms and constructive programmes is vital for achieving intended impact among communities. Janeev aimed at holistic social reforms for addressing socio- economic and gender disparity, environmental concerns and population control. With his vision and mission, today Vanchit Vikas serves the most underprivileged communities in urban, rural and tribal areas of Maharashtra. Major projects are as follows.

Pune city-based center provides family counselling services to retain harmonious and healthy living experiences among the families. In addition, center runs life skill education classes in select schools.
Latur based center supports and empowers destitute, deserted women and widows. Here, they receive skill trainings and small funds for initiating livelihood as well as gain self-confidence. More than 450 women have benefited till now. They enjoy economic independence and respect from their families. Their success stories are penned by late Hon. Mr. Vilas Chaphekar in a book ‘Yashaswini’.
