Hello everyone :) These are the first 5 kata in shotokan karate do. The first kata I perform is Kata Heian Shodan, the next kata is Heian Nidan, after is Heian Sandan, after is Heian Yondan, & the last kata of the heian series is Heian Godan.

The Shotokan Heian Kata are essential and they represent Peaceful Mind. The karate techniques demonstrated in these kata consist of many karate strikes and karate blocks, as well as karate stances. The main karate stances in the kata are zenkutsu dachi, kokutsu dachi, and kiba dachi. Some common strikes are oi zuki, gyaku zuki, shuto uke, age uke, uchi uke, soto uke, gedan barai.

Use this video as a karate tutorial to learn all the Heian Kata, this is what they look like when performed all the way through as opposed to step by step. The Heian Kata of Shotokan must not be overlooked by karateka, as they are the foundation of shotokan practice.
