Dollar Store Employees Say They Want Safer Working Conditions
Shoppers looking for discounts love dollar stores. However, some popular dollar stores were also locations for out-of-control and sudden acts of violence. In 2017, Dollar General clerk Gabrielle Simmons was shot to death during a robbery. According to the Gun Violence Archive, nearly 400 people were injured and 149 people have been killed at dollar store chains since 2014. In the wake of the violence, dollar store workers are taking a stand. Dollar General, Dollar Tree, and Family Dollar tell Inside Edition the safety of their employees and customers is their priority, adding they are implementing enhanced security measures.
