Site of the First Skyscraper in Hartford, CT (History of the NW corner of Main and Asylum Streets)

Now dominated by a parking lot, the northwest corner of Main and Asylum Streets in Hartford has had several interesting buildings over the years. There was the original Catlin Building (1821-1897), a newer Catlin Building (1897-1911), and then the Hartford-Aetna Building, considered to be Hartford's first skyscraper, built in 1912 and demolished in 1990.
