3 Ted Nugent Licks From 1976

Here's the next episode of Three-For-All with 3 Ted Nugent Licks From 1976. As I mentioned in the video, I've had a ton of requests to feature some "1970s Ted Nugent" - and that's exactly what this lesson contains.

Ted Nugent in the '70s was relentless, as he released an impressive eight albums within a six-year span from 1975-1981. These releases cemented Ted's popularity/status at the time and document his talent as a guitarist. Needless to say, he's influenced countless players since his heyday in the 1970s.

The ideas in this lesson come from a live performance in Germany in 1976 and capture Ted at his fiery best, playing alongside the legendary (but often overlooked) Derek St. Holmes. Derek was literally the voice of Ted's music in the 1970s, and the concert captures a few moments of them trading licks and playing harmony solos - great stuff!

As far as the licks we're hitting in this lesson, there's plenty of aggressive string bending and vibrato on display, which includes a signature bending idea from the eternal classic 'Stranglehold,' a variation of a bending phrase from the late-great Paul Kossoff (of Free fame), a famous slip-n-slide melodic phrase from 'Stranglehold,' and a unique picked bending idea that creates a few challenges and an interesting sound.

Needless to say, there's plenty to learn and sink your teeth into hiding in this lesson, so give this episode a view, leave some comments/feedback, and please subscribe to Late Night Lessons - THANK YOU!
