Here's the next episode of Chordplay with The Chords of Mastodon.
Guitarists Brent Hinds and Bill Kelliher from Mastodon have staked a claim on their own blend of hard rock and metal music, as their drop-tuned riffage along with an interesting selection of chords and progressions have really set them apart from the pack of groups that hit the scene in the early 2000s.

Mastodon has been active for 20 years (this year) and this lesson sheds some light on a few of their lush chord voicings and intriguing riffs. The ideas shared here were borrowed from albums such as 'The Hunter,' 'Leviathan,' 'Crack The Skye,' and more.

From unusual chord fingerings and textures to expressive and expansive sounds, the creative minds of Mastodon have discovered a style that is uniquely theirs and they've actively pushed themselves to greater artistic and musical heights with each album and direction they pursue collectively as a band.
