**Grandma's Caramel Candy**

**Utensils**
Large pot
Wire cooling rack
13-inch by 9-inch baking pan
2 sheet pans
Small spatula
Knife
2 small bowls
Candy thermometer
Pre-cut Parchment paper
5" X 5" 100 Candy wrappers
2 Wooden stirring spoons
2/2 cup measuring cups
2 Teaspoons
Scissors
cutting board

**Ingredients**
4 Sticks of butter, melted
2 pounds of light brown sugar
A dash of salt
2 cups of light corn syrup
2 cans of sweetened condensed milk
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
Butter to grease the baking pan

**Preparations**
Gather all ingredients.
Grease the baking pan with butter.

**Instructions**
***Stir after each addition.
1. Place a large pot on the stove and melt the 4 sticks of butter on low heat.
2. Add the 2 pounds of light brown sugar and stir to combine.
3. Add a dash of salt and stir to combine.
4. Turn the burner on medium heat, and add the 2 cups of light corn syrup (Karo), stir to combine.
5. Add the 2 cans of sweetened condensed milk, mix well. On medium heat, stir the mixture until it comes to a boil. Stop stirring and attach the candy thermometer. (Keep the heat set to medium at all times unless you need to decrease the temperature)
6. Once the thermometer reaches 243°F, remove from the heat. Add 2 teaspoons of Vanilla extract, mix well.
7. Pour into the 13-inch by 9-inch buttered baking pan.
8. Cool for 6 hours or overnight. Let set. Using a scraper, score 20/13" horizontal straight lines, and then refrigerate them for 1 hour on parchment paper in 2 separate sheet pans, spacing them 1 inch apart.
9. Remove one caramel log at a time, place it on a cutting board horizontally, and cut 4 straight lines diagonally per log with a scraper. Making 2-inch by 1-inch pieces. Wrap each piece in a wrapper and place in a tin can or an airtight container.
