The Great White

When I was young I was always very reluctant to go far into the sea during our holidays. Then end of 1975 I watched Steven Spielbergs movie "JAWS". The entire cinema seemed utterly traumatised by that unforgettable opening sequence .When leaving the Cinema I remember whispering to myself in a state of sublime terror: “I am never going swimming again, I am never going swimming again…”
For years these animals kept fascinating me. Maybe because of this movie.
37 years later I visited South Africa and passed through a town called Gansbaai, which is known as the Great White Capital of the world as it is the only place where you can cagedive with Great White Sharks all year round. This was an experience of a life time.
Years afterwards I swam amongst other species of sharks in Malaysia, Galapagos ,Great Barrier Reef Australia , I never encountered the Great White again. One thing: I will never ever swim in murky waters as you never know what's beneath….. (JAWS TUNE PLAYING)
