Pyramid of Austerlitz (Dutch Landmarks)

The Great Pyramid of…the Netherlands?

yesssss We have one.

If you didn’t already know, the Netherlands is home to a 36-metre-tall pyramid.
Built in 1804 by Napoleon's soldiers on one of the highest points of the Utrecht Hill Ridge, in the municipality of Woudenberg, the Netherlands. Atop the pyramid is a stone obelisk from 1894.

When Louis Bonaparte became the new monarch of the Kingdom of Holland in 1806, the pyramid was renamed the Pyramid of Austerlitz. It was named after the Battle of Austerlitz (1805) which is widely regarded as the greatest victory ever achieved by Napoleon Bonaparte.
