Bwindi Uganda

A few years ago we visited the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the South of Uganda, not far from the Congolese border. After a 3.5 hour tracking hike through indeed impenetrable forest we finally encountered the Bweza Gorilla family. After spending an hour with the gorillas, sometimes only 2 meters distance and after some adrenaline pumping experience we walked back to where we started , again a 3.5-4 hour hike.
Please enjoy our incredible experience in this recently edited 2 minutes film.

some short information about the Bweza group:
Bweza Gorilla Group
The Bweza Group was part of the Nshongi Group. The Bweza group split from the mother family of Nshongi on the 1st of August, 2012. During this time, park officials were skeptical about announcing the presence of this new group. The rangers reported that the group’s behavior suggested that the group would eventually rejoin the Nshongi group. However, after several months of observation, the group moved on its own. The Uganda Wildlife Authority started making trial visits and the the family became ready for gorilla tracking in December 2012. The process of habituating a new gorilla family typically takes over 2 years. However, since the group broke away from the already habituated Nshongi group, the process was much faster given that they were already used to human prescence into their territory.
