Attempt to build a large Stirling Engine

This was an initial attempt to build a larger beta-type Stirling engine at minimal cost. The cylinder is from a Bunn coffee maker, the water jacket is a coffee can cut down, the crank is from bolts and scrap steel with standard bearings, the flywheel I purchased from a local scrapyard, the frame is from recycled wood cabinets, the diaphragm is a piece of heavy inner tube rubber and some jar lids and cans, and the conn rods are threaded rods. the displacer is partly an aluminum water bottle and partly SS wool, held together with mesh from used air filters.

It ran OK for a while but I have had ongoing problems with the diaphragm. The noise is from the temporary connections I made on the displacer drive. I think the basic concept is workable but there are many details to iron out yet.
