Artist Check-in with Alexandre Kantorow

Pianist Alexandre Kantorow just received the Gilmore Artist Award, a very prestigious piano honor given only once every four years. He was also the first French musician to win the Gold Medal at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2019, receiving the Grand Prix–one of only four artists to ever receive this prestigious honor.

Now in demand at the highest level worldwide, he is applauded for his innate poetic charm, luminous clarity, and stunning virtuosity, Elliott Forrest was able to catch up with the young pianist for a few minutes.

Speaking to WQXR from the streets of Paris, Kantorow will be in New York City this weekend, playing Bach, Schubert, Liszt, and Brahms at Carnegie Hall on October 22nd at 2 pm.
