Jordan Bak in Recital at Merkin Hall | Music Speaks: Into the Light
On November 9, 2021, Artist Propulsion Lab violist Jordan Bak gave a recital titled Music Speaks: Into the Light at the Kaufman Music Center’s Merkin Concert Hall with his dear friend, pianist Ji Yung Lee. From Jordan:
“Into the Light is an insider look into my own personal life. West Indian culture, experiences and family members that have shaped my perspective, even as healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, are centered around the subject of under-representation in classical music through the soundwaves of the viola, an under-represented instrument.” In his recital, Jordan explores the “power of diversity and finding one’s own voice, and looking to an eternally bright future in what we do.”
This performance is part of the Music Speaks series co-presented by Kaufman Music Center and Concert Artists Guild and was filmed and recorded at Merkin Hall.
