Using Smaart V8 to phase align subs to mains

In this video I show you how to time / phase align subwoofers with a line array using Rational Acoustics Smaart V8.

This was done with a quite old Roland M400 digital mixer with RIAC stage boxes. The sound system was two (2 x 3) stacks of QSC KLA12 line arrays, and was shaded +3 on the top box, +/-0 on the middle box, and -3 on the bottom box.

The subs were QSC KW181's.

The limitations I had to work around, was the polarity of the entire system measured reversed... and I had no polarity options on the mains or the subs.

In addition, there was no delay control without inserting a delay rack effects, and using that to adjust delay. And because it was a rack delay, my adjustments in time was .8 ms, rather than a more fine tuned .3 or better.

So if you notice on my sub / main alignment, my crossover point was 180° out of phase. But because everything in the entire system has this same behavior, it wasn't really an issue.

And Easter egg... I also said called stage left stage right. (Newb) lol

In the future I'll do this video again using a Behringer X32, or the Midas M32 which at the moment are my favorite consoles.
