Fire Department Exercise - Jaws Of Life

This is a video record of a joint exercise involving the volunteer fire departments of Mill Village and Port Medway in Nova Scotia. They are each tiny departments yet regularly train and practise to hone their skills and safety measures.
The scenario for this exercise, under the direction of Fire Chief Donnie Whynot, is two vehicles racing along a back road. They collide causing each to go into opposite ditches. One vehicle is overturned trapping the occupant inside. The fire department is called, finally using the jaws of life to extricate the occupant.

Special thanks to the on scene trainer, Bentley Rice. Bentley Rice is a deputy fire marshal in central Nova Scotia and is an instructor at the firefighter school in Waverley, Nova Scotia.
