Boulder Creek Restoration Project

The Natural Resource Damage Program and partners like the Watershed Restoration Coalition and the Clark Fork Coalition have invested in native fish restoration in an old mining district outside Philipsburg. This is a rare watershed where bull trout and westslope cutthroat trout still exist in significant numbers. Two large habitat restoration projects were completed in 2017 on private land, where conservation-minded landowners worked with agencies to improve the fish and wildlife habitat on their land. These habitat projects build on significant mining reclamation and Forest Road fish passage projects, building towards a strong native fish sanctuary in the heart of the Flint Creek mountain range.
