Zero Clearance Table Saw Insert Build

One of the first things I noticed I needed for many projects was the ability to rip stock into smaller strips. It was quite dangerous doing fine work with the manufacture table saw insert so this was a perfect project to get me started on many future projects.

I chose some straight grained oak, planed down to the exact thickness of the insert recess to remain flush with the table top.

So far, I've found that there's very little warping or other distortion over time, even though that was my main concern; making such a thin piece of wood was just asking for stability issues. I have found that I didn't need leveling pins either, much to my surprise. Any small leveling issues were fixed with just a small bit of sawdust on the tabs where this insert sits.
