Mulberry Spring / Summer 2018

LONDON — Arriving Friday morning at Heathrow an uncommon sight greeted transatlantic travelers, namely blue skies and sunshine. London, after all, David Byrne reminds us, is dark, dark in the day time. This was no passing weather cell, however as it extended right on through to Spencer House that afternoon where Johnny Coca delighted attendees with his see now, buy now Mulberry collection for Spring / Summer 2018. The collection was first shown last September as a presentation in Paris meant to resemble an English country garden party. That theme was not entirely abandoned, the collection is the same colorful and breezy inspiration it was at when it debuted, but rather brought indoors for a techno refit. Models followed a circular runway path inside a room lined with curved video screens. A musical performance by Alison Goldfrapp, revealed to be standing behind a mirrored platform in the room’s center, closed out the program. It was a smart show, which ought to prompt sales, especially in this climate. On the afternoon five models from across the Next global network featured in the lineup including Cibele Ramm, Isabella Molloy, Kennah Lau, Mila Ganame, and Pol Ivochkina.
