Strength training is one of the most important things you can do for longevity. By lifting weights, you can maintain muscle mass and preserve strength as you age. Lifting weights when you are over 40 might be even MORE important than lifting weights while you are young. This is based on REAL strength training research.
Getting older is a process of losing muscle mass, mobility, and energy. One of the best ways to combat these side effects of aging including sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss) is by doing strength training. Other benefits of strength training for females include boosting your metabolism and activating genes that help promote longevity.
