AT&T Dawn Of Speech Recognition Technology

This employee video was commissioned by AT&T in the 1980s during the transition to speech recognition based operator calls. There was a very real fear among thousands of AT&T operators and support staff that the technology would displace them. The premise of the video was to dissipate the fears. There are interviews and overviews of AT&T technology. There is even a cameo appearance of Apple’s Knowledge Navigator and This video shows a historic account where technology and voice based systems changed an industry.
