Episode 63: Delicious Vegan Steaks! 🍽| Vital Wheat Gluten
cant be a cooking video with me without mistakes. uh! so glad yall love me anyway. I got my ispiration for these recipes from veggie rose and avant garde vegan, just changed it to my liking. I know some of you are thinking just combine both methods and I will but wanted to show them separately so you can be the judge yourself.
I know this was a lot and I am far too lazy to type out recipes but here goes:
How to make Seitan aka Vital Wheat Gluten:
1/2 cup vegetable stock ( I used an additional 1/4 cup)
1/2 cup mashed white beans
1 1/4 cup vital wheat gluten flour
2 tbsp tomato sauce( helps with color)
2 tbsp nutritional yeast ( no clue what this does, but everyone did it)
****SEASON TO TASTE****
*This is just a rough estimate
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
Method One: Steaming for 1 hour and then Marinade 30 mins.
6 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp agave
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/8 tsp salt
1/8 tsp ground black pepper
Method 2: Simmer Seitan in Seasonings For 1 hour then grill
4 cups veggie Broth
2 Bay leaves
4-5 cloves Crushed Garlic
1/4 of a Purple Onion
Steak Seasoning to Taste
Optional:1 tbsp Miso Paste( i forgot it in video)
Now Get Grilling!!!
