The Queensland premier 'thinks you are an idiot'

Sky News host Paul Murray says Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk "thinks you are an idiot" and will forget that her government introduced a law on Thursday which attacked free speech.

The Queensland government introduced legislation on Thursday which prohibited newspaper or radio broadcasts from suggesting a candidate for parliament was under investigation by the Crime and Corruption Commission.

The offence was to be punishable by six months imprisonment.

Ms Palaszczuk on Friday pretended her government had not introduced the law the day before.

“Obviously, the government has no intention of pursuing that … it’s completely off the table,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

Mr Murray said the retracted statement she made on Friday was a reaction to the attack the legislation had received from Sky News and from The Courier Mail.

“The point is it got on the table at all,” Mr Murray said.

“The premier thinks you are an idiot.

“The premier thinks that you will forget what they tried to do.”
