Palaszczuk government's 'desperate distraction to hide their lies'

Sky News host Paul Murray says the Queensland government on Friday made an announcement to distract from the lies they’ve been telling.

“A few lies started to mount up last week that meant the Palaszczuk government desperately wanted a distraction,” Mr Murray said.

He said the government was pretending they were “protecting jobs” when really, of the 36,000 new full-time jobs created around the country over August, only 179 of those were in Queensland.

Further, Premier Palaszczuk has been accused of failing to follow her own health advice after attending a multitude of high-profile events.

On Wednesday Ms Palaszczuk underwent a test for COVID-19 which came back negative, while her office assured she was not displaying symptoms when she attended a funeral.

“Guess what announcement was made on Friday to change the subject?” Mr Murray said.

Ms Palaszczuk on Friday announced Queensland would open its borders to the ACT.

This announcement comes just one week after Queenslander Sarah, who was living in the ACT, was not allowed to exit hotel Quarantine to attend her father’s funeral.

“Literally week earlier, (Sarah) couldn’t go to her father’s funeral because she was from the ACT,” Mr Murray said.

“A week later, nothing’s changed in the ACT… there’s still been zero cases for now 70 days.

“It’s all political, and you know that.”
