COA | Unit-1 | Lecture-12 | Processor Organization-Stack Organization | AKTU B.Tech Computer Science

Welcome to CS Pathshala! 🎓
In this video, we explain the concept of Processor Organization – Stack Organization — a CPU structure where all arithmetic, logic, and data operations are performed using an implicit stack, instead of general-purpose registers.

You’ll learn how operands are pushed onto the stack, how the ALU automatically takes the top elements (TOP and NEXT) for execution, how instructions in stack machines use zero-address formats, and how operations like PUSH, POP, ADD, and MULTIPLY are executed without mentioning operand addresses.
This organization simplifies instruction formats and is widely used in expression evaluation, postfix processing, and early computer architectures, as well as in modern virtual machines like the JVM.

This is an important topic from Unit 1 of COA (Computer Organization and Architecture) as per the AKTU syllabus, and also valuable for GATE and NET Computer Science preparation.

📚 Stay tuned for more concept-based lectures on COA, OS, DBMS, DS, TAFL, Java, and Python.
