In this video, we explain the concept of the Carry Look-Ahead Adder (CLA) — one of the most important high-speed adders used to overcome the delay limitations of Ripple Carry Adders.

You’ll learn how the CLA improves performance by generating carries in advance using Generate (G) and Propagate (P) signals, how the carry look-ahead logic works, and how carries are computed in parallel.
We also discuss the complete carry look-ahead equations, the design of a 4-bit CLA, and how the logic can be extended to 8-bit and 16-bit adders.

With clear diagrams and step-by-step explanations, this lecture makes it easy to understand why CLA is faster, how it reduces propagation delay, and why it is widely used in modern ALU design.
