What the human eye tells the human clock
In his research, Manuel Spitschan focuses on the effects of light and lighting on human physiology, with a specific interest in integrating knowledge from visual and circadian neuroscience. In his talk for the Leibniz ScienceCampus he presented an overview of methods and recent results for understanding how the different photoreceptors in the retina contribute to the circadian and neuroendocrine physiology in humans.
Dr Manuel Spitschan is a University Research Lecturer and Sir Henry Wellcome Fellow at the Department of Experimental Psychology, University of Oxford. After reading psychology at the University of St Andrews and finishing his PhD at the University of Pennsylvania, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University.
With an introduction by Antonino Calapai from the Cognitive Neurosciences Lab at the German Primate Center.
