The largest shipwreck graveyard in Rhode Island is located just outside of Providence in Green Jacket Shoal. Hidden in the shallow waters here are the remains of 29 vessels, with many dating back to the 1800s. There are so many wrecks here that The Providence Journal referred to this spot as “where ships go to die”.
