This Bulgarian song represents an important story in Bulgarian history. It is the story of freedom fighters, striving for Bulgarian independence. They regularly had to flee into the mountains to run from their enemies. Only once in a while, the young lads would come down to meet their friends, family and lovers.

JIP Chamber Choir is a project choir from Utrecht, the Netherlands, founded in 2013 by brothers Jonathan and Imre Ploeg. JIP wants to present new and unknown choir music from all over the world, brought together in surprising, engaging and fundamental themes like war and peace, the nomadic life, the refugee crisis and the ecological crisis.
