Leadership in Education - HIGHLIGHTS

Two extraordinary Hawai‘i educators compare notes on Leadership in two vastly different educational realms. Jan Iwase celebrates her exemplary 45-year career as a public school teacher and principal, and Rusty Komori draws on his experience as Head Coach of the Punahou Boys Varsity Tennis Team that won 22 consecutive State Championships—the longest streak in the US in all sports.

Jan Iwase spent 45 years as an educator in Hawai`i. After retiring in 2018, she wrote two books. The first, Leading with Aloha: From the Pineapple Fields to the Principal’s Office, was published in 2019. Her second book, Educating with Aloha: Reflections from the Heart on Teaching and Learning, was published in 2021.

Rusty Komori is the author of two best-selling books Beyond The Lines, and Beyond The Game ,and is a highly sought-after motivational speaker and leadership coach.
