Lasting Effects of COVID-19 -- Highlights

In addition to the common pulmonary issues, numerous other "Long Covid" problems are surfacing. Four physicians discuss what they are observing so far.

Panelists
Elizabeth Tam, MD, is Professor and Chair of Medicine at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM). She specializes in internal medicine and pulmonary diseases, and has conducted NIH- and CDC-funded research on the effects of vog, tobacco smoke, and other environmental agents on the lungs and airways.

Brian Wu, MD, is a pediatric pulmonologist and QUEST medical director at HMSA. During this pandemic, he has been part of various COVID-related task forces and workgroups in our State.

Anthony P. Guerrero, MD, is Professor and Chair of Psychiatry and Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Hawai‘i John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM), where he completed medical school and residency training in general pediatrics, general psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry. He currently also serves as Chief of Psychiatry at the Queen's Medical Center, and formerly served as Medical Executive Committee Representative for psychiatry at Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women and Children.

Moderator
Ira Zunin, MD, earned his medical degree from UCLA School of Medicine, completed a residency in Preventive Medicine and then a Master’s Degree in Public Health. He is Assistant Clinical Professor at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, Department of Complementary and Alternative Medicine. He is medical director of Manakai O Malama Integrative Clinic and Rehabilitation Center and CEO of Global Advisory Services, a consulting firm focused on re-imagining healthcare for the twenty-first century.
