The new AMG is aiming squarely at the Porsche Taycan, but it’ll offer a more practical liftback trunk instead of a traditional sedan layout.

Performance looks serious too: each of its axial-flux motors produces 480 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. Depending on how many motors it uses, total output could hit close to 1,000 horsepower — or even up to 2,000 horsepower if they go quad-motor.

This new performance EV is built on AMG’s first dedicated electric platform called AMG.EA, signaling Mercedes’ move away from its EQ-branded lineup. Expect this fastback to be followed by a high-performance AMG electric SUV using the same tech.
