Pen and wash drawing demonstration of a farmyard

This farmyard is on a walk we did during lockdown this summer, and as soon as I saw the lovely little outbuilding with its mix of textures, I knew I’d be drawing it at some point.
For this first stage, I’m using a pen which is new to me: Windsor and Newton fineliner in a 0.1 nib- as I mention in my commentary, I never actually checked just how waterproof the ink is, so we’ll find out when I add the watercolour washes in part two!

I’ m using my favourite sketchbook in this demonstration ( in fact it’s the last blank page in my current one- might do a quick flip through at the end of the demonstration if there’s any interest?): it’s a Seawhite watercolour travel journal in A5 size- fantastic consistent quality and I love how well the paper takes ink lines and watercolour.
