Line and Wash: it's not just 'colouring in' - with John Harrison (Part 2)
Here is part 2 of John Harrison's fantastic Line and Wash guide.
This video focuses on painting the drawing you made in part one with water colour.

John is Yorkshire born and bred: a trained graphic designer with a strong illustrative style borne from his voracious childhood reading: Rupert The Bear; Swallows and Amazons; Just William; the Narnia series, and countless comics from both sides of the Atlantic. They all featured drawings which led directly to John’s current style of strong line drawings - usually in ink - with watercolour washes applied in varying degrees to focus the viewer’s eye. John draws inspiration (pun intended!) from many sources - Yorkshire’s glorious Dales and Coast, the stunning Lake District, city, village and townscapes - always looking for dynamic viewpoints with interesting perspective and strong light and shadows.
Largely self-taught, he doesn’t consider himself a painter, but uses the unpredictable yet exciting medium of watercolour to highlight his drawings. He runs many workshops and classes, details of which are posted on his website. His work is in many private collections both in the UK and internationally, he undertakes commissions both private and corporate and has just come to the end of a year-long monthly feature in the Dalesman magazine.
