Priority Continuum Onyx with NuVinci CVT & Gates Carbon Drive
The Priority Continuum Onyx Edition is a gates belt drive bicycle that also features a NuVinci CVT internally geared hub. It may well be the ultimate commuter bicycle in its price range.
The bicycle is available from PriorityBicycles.com and costs $999. That may seem like a lot of money for a bicycle purchased off the Internet, but Priority Bicycles is one of the first 3 companies to make it via KickStarter, and their Priority Classic Plus is marketed and reviewed to be a superior bike when compared to the IKEA Sladda - a bike I have a fondness for - and the reason I found Priority Bicycles.
The Priority Continuum Onyx Edition features are a list straight out of a commuter wishbone:
- NuVinci CVT hub
- Gates Carbon Drive belt drive
- Dynamo front hub with front and rear lights
- Tektro Hydraulic 160mm disc brakes
- WTB 700x32c Slick Tires with reflective sidewall
- Matte finish with reflective logos for better night visibility
- Lightweight Aluminum alloy frame and fork
- Threadless headset
- Tapered head tube
- Fenders with mud flaps
Riding the Continuum Onyx is as pleasant as the specs would make it sound. It is smooth and the NuVinci N300 CVT hub makes shifting smooth and effortless. It also allows the rider to safe energy by always being in the proper gear. No more gear hunting or being left feeling like you are in between two gears and not exactly where you should be. Add to that the smooth and quiet operation of the Gates Carbon Drive and things get better that you can imagine.
Everyone that has ridden this bike has stated it is amazing. It has certainly changed the way I look at how a bicycle should shift and be geared. As a commuter, the belt drive also means low maintenance and no oil or grease stains on pants. It also frees the rider form worry of weather related lubrication issues as there is no lubrication on the belt drive.
All-in-all I think this is a great deal for $999, and you certainly get your monies worth in the parts alone. I contacted Priority Bicycles myself, and paid for this bicycle with my own money, so everything I have said in this review is an honest opinion as a consumer.
Priority Bicycles has also Kindly sent a few items to use as a giveaway. Stay tuned for an upcoming video where I will announce how to have a chance at some of their swag. Also be sure to visit KevCentral.com regularly as I will soon be launching a new site with even more content on the products you see in the videos, as well as a new giveaway central section that will work hand-in-hand with the videos to give you chances at that swag.
